Takween Dwaik is a trained counselor and psychotherapist who focuses on helping adults struggling with marriage and parenting issues. She has a bachelor’s degree in Islamic Fiqh and worked as a teacher and administrator in private schools. She pursed her master’s degree in community counseling Wayne State University and transitioned into a career as a therapist. Takween combines her therapy sessions with her Islamic knowledge to offer comprehensive care for her clients.

Having resided in Michigan for over 35 years, Takween has a yearning to give back to her community. She was the first staff therapist hired by the Islamic Center of Detroit in 2021 and served as the Director of My Mental Wellness till December 2023.

Aminh Kurdi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a master’s degree from Wayne State University’s School of Social Work. She has extensive training in providing care to both adults and children. Her past experiences include working in Wayne County Public Schools, non profit organizations focused on providing care for individuals with Autism, and refugee resettlement, amongst other roles. Aminh also holds a certificate in administering Mental Health First Aid trainings. Her goals at the ICD are to create a safe space for clients to build therapeutic relationships to achieve their individual goals and to grow connections with community members.
